Eco-design aims to reduce the environmental impact of products considering their complete lifecycle. The manufacture, distribution, use and end of life of ErP & EE imply significant environmental impacts (e.g. energy and raw material consumption, waste production, emission of pollutants, etc.). It is considered that 80% of all the environmental impacts of a product are determined during its design.

Best Available Techniques – BATs are referred here as the most environmentally friendly technique that is known to carry out an activity within the limits of a reasonable economic cost. BAT concept is applicable to both product and process.
